RENOVATION works in the Temple – NO PUBLIC ACCESS  from 29.04.19 to end August 2019

We are taking up renovation works at the temple which is going to be a 16-week process. The temple premises will be handed over to the builder on Monday, the 29.04.19 & temple premises will become a construction zone. In view of this, there will be NO PUBLIC ACCESS with effect from MONDAY, the 29th APRIL 2019 till end  AUGUST, 2019 because of  HEALTH & SAFETY norms. However, the PRIESTS will have access & will be performing the daily aaratis / rituals. Last Thursday Satsangh at the temple will be on ANZAC day, the 25.04.19 before handing over to the builder.

WHY THIS RENOVATION?

Temples / Churches are considered as PLACES OF ASSEMBLY and City Councils give permission for specific number of people to assemble at these places. The number approved to great extent depends on the number of car parks available. With change in the Unitary Plan of Auckland City Council, we got approval for a higher number of assembly with same number of car parks. This is essential keeping in view of the devotee growth & long-term prospects of the temple.  When we get approval for a higher capacity, we need to provide additional facility for Fire evacuation, upgrade mechanical systems for higher air flow, upgrade Fire Controls etc. We got required Resource & Building consent approvals from Auckland City Council & we need to complete the extension/renovation process now. There are not many major festivals / events during this period except Guru Purnima and Janmashtami which we are celebrating in NZ Athia Trust Society Hall. We regret for the inconvenience, but we are sure devotees will understand keeping in view the long-term interest of the temple.

WHAT IS THE ALTERNATE PLAN ?

We will be having weekly SATSANGH and MAHA PRASAD every THURSDAY at the following venues

02.05.19 and  09.05.19 (Two Thursdays)  -        Shanti Niwas Charitable Trust Hall, 14 Spring St, Onehunga
